Abstract

The article entitled, Management of Cannabis Use in Breastfeeding Women: The Untapped Potential of Certified Lactation Consultants, by Kara R. Skelton, Sara E. Benjamin-Neelon, and Kelly C. Young-Wolff initially published electronically in Breastfeeding Medicine (vol. 15, no. 2, 2020; DOI: 10.1089/bfm.2019.0272) requires corrections of the terminology used throughout the article and in the article title.
After the publication of the article, the Editor-in-Chief of Breastfeeding Medicine was notified of a significant error in terminology. The authors intended “Certified Lactation Consultants (CLC)” to be used as an inclusive generic term to encompass certified lactation professionals who have direct contact with breastfeeding mothers. However, they did not realize the term “Certified Lactation Consultants (CLC)” was registered to refer only to Certified Lactation Counselors. Therefore they requested officially to appropriately correct the terminology to “International Board Certified Lactation Consultants® (IBCLCs®).”
This correction of the text and title includes the already existing electronic version and the published print copy in the February issue of Breastfeeding Medicine.
The corrected title is: “Management of Cannabis Use in Breastfeeding Women: The Untapped Potential of International Board Certified Lactation Consultants.”
The authors sincerely apologize for this unfortunate error.
