This special Biobanking in China issue is the result of about nine months of work with a variety of biospecimen research investigators in China. I would like especially to thank Drs. Rongxing Gan and Guangjun Yu, who are the Senior Editors of this issue, and Dr. Yutong Song who is the Managing Editor. Drs. Gan and Song and their colleagues at the Shanghai Clinical Research Center, and the authors they recruited from their institution and colleagues from various parts of China, have contributed an excellent variety of papers. You will find a description of the history of biobanking in China, as well as contributions from authors concerning their current efforts in the regulatory, technical and biospecimen research areas. This special Biobanking in China issue is timely, as biobanking networks and standards are being developed, along with a growing relationship with ISBER. I hope you enjoy reading these papers as much as we enjoyed putting this issue together.
