Abstract
The Issue Briefs below were originally posted on the Center for Biosecurity's website during the early days of the 2009 H1N1 influenza (swine flu) epidemic between April 27 and May 13. They were intended as quick briefings to policymakers on key issues of concern at the time. Because events have moved on, some of the material in the Issue Briefs may be outdated by the time the print issue of this journal is released; however, the editors believe that on the whole the issues discussed have not gone away and that the information presented in the Briefs is still valuable. The Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) Issue Brief was originally published on April 29, 2009. Because additional important details about the EUAs were released by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) after the initial publication, the Brief below has been edited to incorporate some of these updates.
