Abstract

We are sad to report the death of Elizabeth E. Weller, M.D., earlier this year. Dr. Weller was one of the original Editorial Board members at the founding of the Journal in Spring, 1990.
This year the following members retired or rotated off the Editorial Board: F. Xavier Castellanos, M.D., Barbara Geller, M.D., Stephen P. Hinshaw, Ph.D., Patrick E. Shrout, Ph.D., Thomas J. Spencer, M.D., Rosemary Tannock, Ph.D., B. Timothy Walsh, M.D., John Scott Werry, M.D., and Timothy E. Wilens, M.D. We note that Drs. Geller and Werry have both been on the Editorial Board since the Journal was founded in 1990. Sharon Christina Kowalik, M.D., Ph.D., has also stepped down as Associate Editor of Book Reviews. We thank all our retiring Board Members for their many years of service to the Journal and wish them well in their future endeavors.
We are pleased to announce that Scott N. Compton, Ph.D., has been appointed Associate Editor of Statistics and Methodology.
The following ten individuals were unanimously recommended for appointment to the Editorial Board at the Journal's annual Editors' Meeting in July and have agreed to serve as members of the Journal's Editorial Board: Celso Arango, M.D., Ph.D., Robert L. Findling, M.D., Jon M. McClellan, M.D., Luis Augusto Rohde, M.D., Ph.D., Paramala J. Santosh, FRCPsych, Ph.D., W. Philip Shaw, M.D., Ph.D., Linmarie Sikich, M.D., Eric Taylor, M.B., FRCP, FRCPsych, FMedSci, Bonnie T. Zima, M.D., M.P.H., and Alessandro Zuddas, M.D. Their affiliations now appear on our masthead.
The Journal's reputation continues to grow, and the number and quality of the submissions to the Journal increased during the past year. Although this year the Journal's impact factor fell slightly from 2.641to 2.590, this is the third highest impact factor reported for the journal since it received its first data in 1997. We realize that this indication of the Journal's increasing quality over these years was made possible only by the enthusiastic support of our readers, authors, and reviewers. We thank you all.
In August 2010, the Journal published a special issue “Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Tourette's Disorder: The State of the Art” co-edited by Barbara J. Coffey, M.D., M.S. and Judith L. Rapoport, M.D. We thank them for providing our readers with this informative and exciting new information. In the coming year we can look forward to a Special Issue focused on the “Psychopharmacological Treatment of Adolescent Depression” with Graham J. Emslie, M.D. as Guest Editor. There will also be a special section on “Information Variance and its Diagnostic Implications,” edited by Gabrielle A. Carlson, M.D.
We acknowledge gratefully the work of our Senior Associate and Associate Editors, the Editorial Board, and individuals on our review panels. The reviewers for articles over the chronological year October 2009 through September 2010 are listed below. Their expertise, careful critiques, and perceptive comments and suggestions to the authors have continued to result in improvements in the quality of the articles published in the Journal. In addition, their efforts to review rapidly and thus decrease the time interval between the initial submission of a paper and its publication are bringing new research and clinical findings to our readership more quickly. Their efforts are truly appreciated.
Also our special thanks to the dedicated staff at Mary Ann Liebert, Inc. and Bernadine Richey, our production editor. As always we thank Vicki Cohn, Senior Vice President and Managing Editor and, of course, Mary Ann Liebert herself, for their unstinting support.
With all best wishes for a peaceful, prosperous, and happy New Year.
