Abstract
In this issue, we continue our annual tradition of publishing the Abstracts of the Posters Most Relevant to Child and Adolescent Psychopharmacology that were presented at the Annual National Institute of Mental Health New Clinical Drug Evaluation Meetings. This year, the 51th Annual National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) New Clinical Drug Evaluation Unit (NCDEU) Meeting was held at Boca Raton, Florida from June 13–16, 2011. This annual meeting brings together investigators and staff from the NIMH and other government agencies and prominent workers in the field from academia and the pharmaceutical industry to present and discuss their latest research findings and other relevant topics. We thank Raul Silva, M.D., for his effort in making these abstracts available.
We are pleased to announce that Christoph U. Correll, M.D. has been appointed as the Journal's first Associate Editor of Treatment Emergent Adverse Events (TEAEs). This new editorship was created to address the increasing recognition of the importance of TEAEs in selecting psychotropic drugs and the psychopharmacotherapy of children and adolescents over time.
Four individuals have been appointed to the Editorial Board: W. Burleson Daviss, M.D., Mark A. Stein, Ph.D., Kimberly Ann Stigler, M.D., and James G. Waxmonsky, M.D. Their names and affiliations now appear on our masthead.
The Journal's reputation continues to grow, and the number and quality of the submissions to the Journal increased during the past year. Over the past year the Journal's impact factor fell slightly from 2.590 to 2.479.
The Journal continues to publish special issues and sections on topics the editors think will be of particular interest to our readers. A special section, Information Variance and Its Diagnostic Implications, edited by Gabriel A. Carlson, M.D. and Eric A. Youngstrom, Ph.D., appeared in the October 2011 issue. The February 2012 issue will be a special issue, Psychopharmacology of Adolescent Depression, with Graham J. Emslie, M.D. as guest editor. We thank the guest editors and the contributing authors for providing our readers with these informative and exciting papers.
We acknowledge gratefully the work of our Senior Associate and Associate Editors, the Editorial Board and individuals on our review panels. The reviewers for papers over the chronological year October 2010 through September 2011 are listed below. Their expertise, careful critiques, and perceptive comments and suggestions to the authors have continued to result in improvements in the quality of the papers published in the Journal. In addition, their efforts to review rapidly and thus decrease the time interval between the initial submission of a paper and its publication are bringing new research and clinical findings to our readership more quickly. Their efforts are truly appreciated.
