Abstract

The era of precision medicine is here. As part of their treatment plans, many cancer patients can now expect their physicians to prescribe targeted therapies, customized to the genetic profile of their tumors. As the menu of personalized therapeutics expands, so does the need for high-throughput, precise testing both in clinical and biopharmaceutical environments.
Meeting the call, Bio-Rad developed the QX ONE Droplet Digital PCR System to suit the needs of biopharmaceutical and clinical laboratories aiming to develop the next generation of precision therapeutics. Its high-throughput capabilities enable researchers to efficiently quantitate biomarkers useful in drug development and dosing to effectively treat patients.
The QX ONE expands upon Bio-Rad's highly sensitive, precise, and accurate Droplet Digital PCR™ technology (ddPCR) with a fully integrated workflow, high-throughput, and advanced multiplexing capabilities. The system generates droplets, amplifies nucleic acids, and quantifies them automatically. It operates continuously with the ability to seamlessly add and remove new consumables during operation, enabling scientists to run up to 480 samples a day, five plates at once.
The system can simultaneously detect four colors for 5-plex mutation detection. Researchers don't need to order new reagents, as the QX ONE is compatible with existing supermixes, assays, and kits. The system comes with either Standard Edition or Regulatory Edition software, the latter of which offers audit trails for researchers who need to comply with regulatory requirements.
Bio-Rad's high-throughput QX ONE system will enable the next wave of scientific breakthroughs in the field of precision medicine.
