Abstract
This volume contains a selected subset of articles that appeared in the 27th Annual International Conference on Research in Computational Molecular Biology (RECOMB). RECOMB is a premier computational biology conference and aims to bridge the computational, mathematical, statistical, and biological sciences. RECOMB 2023 was held in Istanbul, Turkey, from April 16, 2023 to April 19, 2023. I served as the chair of the Program Committee and oversaw the review process which selected 44 papers from 186 submissions.
Following a tradition started by Michael Waterman at the first RECOMB conference in 1997, accepted articles were invited for submission to a special issue of the Journal of Computational Biology. This year, authors were also given the option of submitting a companion short software article. The Journal of Computational Biology is proud to be the official journal of RECOMB, and thanks the RECOMB Steering Committee and its Chair, Bonnie Berger, for continuing this longstanding partnership.
