Abstract

This volume contains a selected subset of articles that appeared in the 28th Annual International Conference on Research in Computational Molecular Biology (RECOMB 2024), held in Cambridge, MA from April 29 to May 2, 2024. RECOMB is a premier computational biology conference that aims to bridge the computational, mathematical, statistical, and biological sciences. RECOMB 2024 featured a diverse array of topics, reflecting the rapid advancements in computational techniques and high-throughput data acquisition in biomedical research. Jian Ma from Carnegie Mellon University served as the Program Chair for RECOMB 2024, overseeing the rigorous review process that selected 57 proceedings papers from 352 submissions.
Following a tradition initiated by Michael Waterman at the first RECOMB conference in 1997, accepted articles were invited for submission to a special issue of the Journal of Computational Biology. This year, authors were also given the option of submitting a companion short software paper. The Journal of Computational Biology is proud to be the official journal of RECOMB, and extends its gratitude to the RECOMB Steering Committee, chaired by Bonnie Berger, for continuing this longstanding partnership.
