Abstract

The global pandemic of SARS-CoV-2, which causes the disease Corona Virus Infectious Disease 2019 (COVID-19), has profoundly interrupted every aspect of life in many countries, with others likely to be impacted in the near future. This has crippled research in laboratories in affected regions. Many groups have been forced to sacrifice laboratory animals. There are too many other implications of this pandemic to individuals, institutions, and nations to detail here.
I anticipate that it will take longer for each stage of the peer review and publication process, and for this, I am sincerely apologetic, but this is all outside our control. We will endeavor to maintain the high standards you have relied on.
On the bright side, I am delighted to welcome a new Section Editor to DNA and Cell Biology, Dr. Cibele Masotti from the Center for Molecular Oncology in Sao Paolo, Brazil, has just accepted an invitation to join us as a co-Section Editor for Bioinformatics with Dr. Erick da Cruz Castelli. The number of submissions for Bioinformatics has grown enormously over the last few months. Please join me in extending a warm welcome to her.
Please stay safe and healthy. We will overcome COVID-19 and be stronger.
