Abstract
The dispersed dyestuff (Blue S-3RF) obtained from a textile dyeing finish factory located in central Taiwan was decomposed by a photocatalytic process. The parameter such as the concentration of dispersed Blue S-3RF was investigated to find out the effect on dispersed Blue S-3RF decomposition. Experimental results indicate that the ultraviolet light only cannot provide enough oxidation potential to destroy the structure of dispersed Blue S-3RF, while the reduction of color presented by VIS500 and American Dye Manufacture Index (ADMI) are less than 20%. As the photocatalytic process equipped with a TiO2-coated stainless steel net is applied, it is understood that the reduction of VIS500 and ADMI can be enhanced to 99.4 and 96.7% after a 6-h photoreaction. Also, based on the spectrum of Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR), the functional groups leading the appearance of color can be effectively oxidized by the photocatalytic process.
