Decolorization of Reactive Brilliant Red K-2BP in Aqueous Solution by Using Hydrodynamic Cavitation

Decolorization of a dye reactive brilliant red K-2BP in aqueous solution by using hydrodynamic cavitation was investigated. Effects of operating parameters such as pressure, temperature, initial concentration of the dye, medium pH, and H₂O₂ addition on the decolorization of reactive brilliant red K-2BP were also discussed. Reactive brilliant red K-2BP in aqueous solution can be decolorized with swirling jet-induced cavitation and the degradation can be described by a pseudo-first-order kinetics. Color removal of the dye increased with increasing pressure and decreased with increasing initial dye concentration. An optimum temperature of 313 K existed for the decolorization rate of the dye and higher decolorization ratios were found in an acidic medium. Results have confirmed that the color removal of reactive brilliant red K-2BP in aqueous solution with hydrodynamic cavitation was substantially enhanced with H₂O₂ addition.
