“Detection by multiplex real-time polymerase chain reaction assays and isolation of Shiga toxin–producing Escherichia coli serogroups O26, O45, O103, O111, O121, and O145 in ground beef” by Pina M. Fratamico, Lori K. Bagi, William C. Cray, Jr., Neelam Narang, Xianghe Yan, Marjorie Medina, and Yanhong Liu. Foodborne Path Dis 2011;8(5):601–607.
The serogroup-specific gene target for E. coli O111 is wbdI and not wzx, and thus the following changes should be made: 1. P. 601, abstract, line 8 should read “..and genes in the O-antigen gene clusters of the six serogroups,. …” 2. P. 602, 1st column, 4th line from the bottom should read “.…targeting virulence genes and genes in the O-antigen gene clusters of the six. …” 3. P. 603, Table 2: Under the column – Primers and probes – the changes are Wzx237-O111-F to WbdI237-O111-F, Wzx237-O111-R to WbdI237-O111-R, and Wzx237-O111-P to WbdI237-O111-P, and in column – Target gene – O111 wzx should be changed to O111 wbdI. 4. P. 604, 1st column, line 15 should read “.…the E. coli O26 wzx and O111 wbdI genes and the. …” 5. P. 604, 2nd column, 6th line under Confirmation of presumptive isolates should read “.…the O-serogroup-specific genes were performed. …” 6. P. 605, 1st column, line 25 should read “.…PCR assays targeting genes in the O-antigen. …” 7. P. 605, 2nd column, line 5 should read “.…PCR assays targeting genes in the O-antigen. …” 8. P. 605, 2nd column, line 7 should read “.…targeting the wzx (wbdI for O111) genes of the two serogroups. …”
The authors sincerely regret that these errors were not discovered in the proofing process.
