J
ournal of Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology
(JAYAO), like the emerging field of adolescent and young adult oncology itself, is just starting out. As with anything new, there is a great deal of learning, growing, and adapting. Cancer in AYAs is not typical cancer, and likewise, JAYAO is not a typical journal. Many of you—the practitioners and researchers of AYAO—have taken time over this past year to discuss the Journal with us, and have shared with us what your needs are. Your input has been very constructive, and we thank you for the valuable feedback. Based on many of your suggestions, we are working hard on a number of changes to JAYAO that you will see emerging after this issue. Some of the upcoming modifications may be more noticeable than others, but all were designed keeping in mind the comments from our readership and with an eye towards what is needed to grow, fully support, and continue to lead the emerging AYAO subspecialty. You may notice some of these changes with this issue, but all changes will be fully outlined in our next issue. The AYAO field has taken many leaps forward in the past few years, and I'm very excited for the leaps forward JAYAO is also about to take. JAYAO is, in so many ways, what you—our readership, submitting authors, reviewers, and editorial board—make it to be. I encourage all of you to be active participants with Journal of Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology, to share JAYAO with colleagues that are interested in becoming more involved with AYAO, and to stay tuned for more details about all of JAYAO's exciting changes!
