Abstract

Dear Colleague
How time has flown! It has been over 10 years since I took the helm at OMICS: A Journal of Integrative Biology, and what amazing years they have been. When we started OMICS, the Human Genome Project had just announced the completion of the rough draft of the human genome, clouds were just atmospheric entities, and tweeting was for the birds.
We now have companies offering human genome sequencing at close to $2000 with hopes to go even lower, clouds have come down from the sky and reside in huge data centers scattered across the world, and the Twittersphere sees close to a half billion tweets a day!
The world has changed, and so has OMICS. Our readership has grown steadily, and we now publish 12 issues a year. Our outreach extends to 140 countries around the globe. Our citation and download indexes are stronger than ever, and I am proud to have been part of the growth of OMICS. It is a great time for another change, a transition of leadership. So, beginning in January 2013, I will be taking on a new role at OMICS, as Executive Editor, while a superb transdisciplinary scientist, my good friend and colleague, Associate Editor Dr. Vural Ozdemir, will become OMICS' new Editor-in-Chief.
Vural is Associate Professor at the Centre of Genomics and Policy, Department of Human Genetics, Faculty of Medicine at McGill University, Montreal, Canada. Vural has published extensively on OMICS biotechnology applications in medicine and public health, personalized healthcare, post-genomics diagnostics and OMICS innovation policy. He has been part of the OMICS team for many years and will steer OMICS: A Journal of Integrative Biology with foresight through the advances to come. Thank you all for allowing me to share your ideas and data; it has been an honor and a pleasure. Please join me in warmly welcoming Vural as Editor-in-Chief.
