Winners of the Thyroid Prize for the Year 2011 Issues

T hyroid is pleased to announce the winners of the Thyroid Prize for its monthly issues in the year 2011. Articles were nominated for the Thyroid Prize by the Thyroid Prize Committee. The committee was chaired by Peter A. Kopp and composed of Rebecca S. Bahn, Quan-Yang Duh, Marian E. Ludgate, Furio Pacini, Elizabeth Pearce, Douglas Ross, Cord Sturgeon, and Theo Visser. The winners were selected from the nominated articles by the Editorial Board and Editors.

The winner of the best basic article was “Small-Molecule Thyrotropin Receptor Agonist Activates Naturally Occurring Thyrotropin-Insensitive Mutants and Reveals Their Distinct Cyclic Adenosine Monophosphate Signal Persistence” by Michael D. Allen, Susanne Neumann, and Marvin C. Gershengorn in the August 2011 issue of Thyroid (1).

The winner of the best clinical article was “Enhanced Survival in Locoregionally Confined Anaplastic Thyroid Carcinoma: A Single-Institution Experience Using Aggressive Multimodal Therapy” by Robert L. Foote, Julian R. Molina, Jan L. Kasperbauer, Ricardo V. Lloyd, Bryan McIver, John C. Morris, Clive S. Grant, Geoffrey B. Thompson, Melanie L. Richards, Ian D. Hay, Robert C. Smallridge, and Keith C. Bible in the January 2011 issue of Thyroid (2).
