In this Centennial Paper Author Interview Series, Dr. Sun Lee interviews Dr. Elizabeth Pearce, one of the authors of the American Thyroid Association (ATA) Centennial article, “The Prevention of Iodine Deficiency: A History,”1 to discuss the history and future of iodine research. They discuss importance of iodine in thyroid health and global effort in improving iodine deficiency worldwide. They also discuss work that remains to better understand and improve iodine nutrition, especially in vulnerable population such as pregnant women.
