El estudio tiene 3 objetivos: 1) analizar el autoconcepto, la autoestima y diversos síntomas psicopatológicos en personas con y sin discapacidad motriz; 2) explorar la existencia de diferencias de género en el autoconcepto, la autoestima y síntomas psicopatológicos en ambas muestras; y 3) estudiar las relaciones existentes entre el autoconcepto y la autoestima con síntomas psicopatológicos en los participantes con y sin discapacidad motriz. La muestra está configurada con 165 participantes, de 19 a 40 años, 128 sin discapacidad y 37 con discapacidad motriz. El estudio emplea una metodología descriptiva y selectiva, administrando 3 instrumentos de evaluación: LAEA, EA, SCL-90-R. Los resultados del ANOVA confirman que no existen diferencias en autoconcepto y autoestima entre las personas con y sin discapacidad motriz, sin embargo, las personas con discapacidad motriz tienen puntuaciones superiores en varios síntomas (obsesión-compulsión, ansiedad fóbica, psicoticismo y en el índice de distrés por los síntomas), mientras que las personas sin discapacidad motriz tienen puntuaciones superiores en síntomas de somatización. Los resultados del ANOVA no han encontrado diferencias de género en ninguna variable ni en el grupo con discapacidad motriz ni en el grupo sin discapacidad. Los coeficientes de Pearson evidencian relaciones significativas inversas del autoconcepto y la autoestima con el total de síntomas psicopatológicos en los participantes con y sin discapacidad motriz.
