Organizing Danish White Collar Workers: the Attitudes of White Collar Union Officials

During the 1950's and 1960's, the number of white collar workers in Denmark has increased substantially. Danish white collar workers today are relatively more unionized than in most other countries. The article discusses factors that affect the extent of unionization, as they are perceived by union functionnaires. Four factors determining union growth are identified: economic, political, socio-psychological and industrial relations. Among the answers and explanations given, economic factors tend to dominate.
