Abstract

I am pleased to let you know of two JAPA features that became available in 2011. JAPA podcasts are up and running. These podcasts comprise interviews with authors of recent papers that delve deeper into the issues discussed in the publications. Mari Ruti, the 2010 JAPA Prize winner, is featured in our first interview, discussing her exploration of singularity (“The Singularity of Being: Lacan and the Immortal Within,” JAPA 58/6). Our second podcast features an interview with Jeanine Vivona regarding her forthcoming article “Is There a Nonverbal Period of Development?” The response to the podcasts has been quite positive.
Second, JAPA now has a mobile site, a version of the standard website modified to fit the smaller screens of smartphones and other handheld devices. Our mobile site presents the essential features and functions typically needed by users on the go, including search and the ability to browse recent content. JAPA’s mobile site is accessible from any mobile device on any platform that has web access. Members can now access the JAPA website without distortion and with full article browsing ability via their phones (iPhone, Android, Blackberry, and other smartphones).
Efforts continue to provide CME credit for selected JAPA content. Articles will be accessed via the JAPA pages on the Sage website; post-test and/or evaluation forms will be available on the APsaA site. This new feature will hopefully launch in 2012.
I also continue to encourage new authors to submit their work to JAPA. The First Paper Prize was created to promote this effort. Details about the prize appear in this issue.
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Robert Glick, whose tenure as Associate Editor for Education ended on December 31, 2011. Bob has served throughout my term as editor, and I have come to rely on his insights and support. His contributions to JAPA’s Education Section have been outstanding. He will be missed.
I wish to thank those who have given so generously of their time as Editorial Board members from January 1, 2009, through December 31, 2011: J. Stuart Ablon, Jacques P. Barber, Eve Caligor, Bertram J. Cohler, Morris N. Eagle, Eric A. Fertuck, Erik Gann, Volney P. Gay, Mark J. This outgoing group contributed an enormous amount of impressive work on behalf of JAPA; I hope they have found their work to be personally rewarding. I thank them for their dedication and hope that we may collaborate again in the future.
