Abstract
The USOE funded Mental Retardation Instructional Materials Center at the University of Southern California is demonstrating that public school-university collaboration can produce useful information, materials, and services for teachers. The special education branch of Los Angeles City schools has provided the base for determining teacher needs as well as personnel assistance. The Center has published and is field testing a teaching guide, Language Development Experiences for Young Multiply-Handicapped Children, and is providing over 900 MR teachers with a useful package of current periodical article summaries each month.
