Abstract
Parental involvement in the planning of educational goals for disabled children is mandated by law. This involvement can take several forms that vary in the degree to which parents are able to have real impact on educational and habilitative services for their children. This article describes and compares four models of parental involvement that reflect various aspects of current professional practice: a) uninformed consent, b) uninformed participation, c) informed consent, and d) informed participation.
