Abstract

It gives me great pleasure to announce the addition of a new member to the editorial team and Board of Education and Urban Society (EUS). Effective from January 1, 2017, Donna Y. Ford, PhD, a professor in the Department of Special Education and the Department of Teaching and Learning at Vanderbilt University, is joining us as our associate editor. After having received her education, including her PhD in educational psychology with a focus on urban education and gifted education at Cleveland State University, Dr. Ford has written, and spoken, extensively, with well above 200 publications, including 10 books, on a variety of issues. Among Dr. Ford’s varied research interests are studying the recruiting and retaining of culturally different students in gifted education, multicultural curriculum and instruction, culturally competent teacher training and development, the achievement gap, and African American identity and family involvement. In addition, Dr. Ford consults with school boards as well as educational and legal organizations.
Dr. Ford will assist us in taking a fresh look at our editorial policies, practices, and procedures in service of EUS’s mission of disseminating important research and maintaining high-quality standards through thorough and comprehensive peer review.
Again, please join me in welcoming Dr. Donna Ford to the EUS family.
Finally, please accept my best wishes for a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2017.
Many thanks for your continued interest in EUS.
