In 1991 the Expository Times published an article by I. H. Marshall entitled `Which Is the Best Commentary? . . . Philippians'. In his essay Marshall noted and evaluated Philippians commentaries available in English that had appeared in print since the middle of the twentieth century (see vol. 103, pp. 39—42). In addition to bringing Marshall's earlier commentary survey up-to-date, this bibliographic essay considers academic studies on various aspects of the letter that have been published over the course of the last twenty or so years.
