W.E. Flood, M.A., Ph.D.—Lecturer in Education, Birmingham University . Taught science in secondary schools for fourteen years, and immediately after the war joined the staff of Birmingham University, where he is mainly concerned with the methods of teaching science and the training of science teachers. Is specially interested in the popularisation of science and was awarded the degree of Ph.D. for work in this field. Has studied the problems of vocabulary in particular, and devised a minimum vocabulary of scientific words essential for the popular exposition of science. Author of a number of elementary science books, some within the special limited vocabulary .
