Use of the Castle Mask in Teaching Synchronous Detection and Waveform Analysis

A castellated mask, used to obscure alternate sections of a waveform, is useful in teaching the properties of the phase-sensitive rectifier, the process of Fourier analysis of a square wave, and the method of detection of a radio signal — especially one that is suppressed-carrier amplitude modulated.
