Call for Applications: Update Co-Editor/Editor-Designate

The Executive Committee of the Society for Research in Music Education (SRME) is seeking applications for the position of Co-Editor/Editor-Designate for the Update: Application of Research in Music Education. This individual will serve for 2 years (7/1/2018–6/30/2020) as Co-Editor, assisting the Editor with journal operations in preparation for serving a 4-year term (7/1/2020–6/30/2024) as Editor.

Qualifications: a) SRME membership; b) a record of sustained, high-quality research publication; c) experience indicating the ability to address issues of research and practice in music education; d) record of leadership in SRME; e) commitment that he or she will volunteer the necessary time to carry out the duties of Co-Editor, and then Editor, including attendance at editorial committee meetings, usually in conjunction with the NAfME national biennial conference; f) commitment to serve in no more than one SRME-affiliated leadership post at one time.

Provide: a) a complete vitae, to include degrees earned, areas of study, employment history, publications, presentations at meeting, awards, offices held, and any other information that establishes qualifications; b) a letter of nomination; c) two letters of recommendation from colleagues active in SRME; d) a letter of support from the candidate’s institution regarding appropriate release time, resources, and clerical support/administrative assistant for the position (approximately 5 hours per week for the duration of a 4-year term as Editor.
