Abstract

The Journal of Music Teacher Education, a publication of NAfME: The National Association for Music Education, is seeking nominations for the position of Editor. Duties begin on July 1, 2022 and continue through June 30, 2028.
Qualifications
Membership in the Society for Music Teacher Education. Any NAfME member who selects Teacher Education as a professional teaching area is an SMTE member.
Commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship, as evidenced by active participation in the field of music teacher education.
Prior experience serving on major research journal editorial boards/committees.
Expertise, professionalism, and time needed to carry out the duties of the position.
Sustained interest and publication in music teacher education.
Regular participation in national conferences of SMTE and NAfME.
Support of your employing institution (release time, staffing for editorial assistant, dedicated email account and server storage, travel budget) throughout the 6-year term.
Responsibilities
Serve as Chairperson of the JMTE Editorial Committee (schedule meetings, provide status reports, conduct biennial elections)
Manage the manuscript review process (preliminary reviews, reviewer assignments, evaluative decisions, administrator notifications)
Serve as chief copy editor of manuscripts recommended for publication
Collaborate with the production editor in finalizing each journal issue.
