Abstract
A recent letter to the Editor by George Fowler and Pirashanthie Vivekananda-Schmidt pointed out an error in the above article. It was noted that the article incorrectly stated that the duty of candour only applies to the hospital, but in a recent amendment to the Health and Social Act 2008 legislation (Regulation 20) in England, the duty of candour legislation now falls on registered medical professionals. The author would like to thank the authors of the letter to the Editor for bringing this to his attention.
The following correction applies:
The section heading ‘Duty of candour on the doctor personally’ and the first paragraph of this section have been replaced by the following text:
‘The duty of candour has now been extended to all registered medical professionals.’
