Abstract

Ensuring that Music Educators Journal (MEJ) is relevant to the music classroom as it is today is very important. Students, student teachers, and teachers alike are always looking for a way to incorporate literacy and technology into the classroom. A resource such as MEJ is a great place to share ideas and include highlight articles on literacy strategies and technologies that can be implemented into the classroom.
MEJ already has some features that can be immensely helpful to both current and future music educators. The “For Your Library” section is a great place to share books that have already been deemed helpful resources in the classroom. This section could be expanded even further to include reading materials that can be used in the classroom to help promote literacy. These materials might include textbooks, articles related to music, and novels. The journal does include occasional books that can be used as textbooks or supplemental books in the classroom, and this should be continued and perhaps even expanded.
