Pet Portrait
This pet portrait was made for a staff member at Rock Hill High School. Our school’s National Art Honor Society sells pet portraits of staff member pets to raise money for the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). I chose acrylic because it is a very easy medium to work with and allows me to get great value and depth in my artwork.

Bear
The initial inspiration was a William Morris pattern. It felt quite tranquil. Then it seemed like something surprising and maybe even threatening should happen. He is a very friendly bear, though. I used acrylic paint because its vibrancy and range of opacity lend themselves well to the dreamy sort of fairy-tale feeling I was after.
