Thermomechanical properties of thermoplastically bonded nonwovens are studied in an exploratory series of experiments. Particular attention is given to the post-bonding temperature conditions, as well as bonding temperatures, pressures, times, and concentrations of the lower melting polymer (i.e. the binder fiber). Discussion of results centers around the potential morphological aspects of the various treatments, comparing mechanical responses of the nonwoven webs to the expectations for various morphological configurations.
