Between Identity and Security: Theological Implications of Migration in the Context of Globalization

Migration has always been woven into the fabric of global patterns of integration. While migration brings both positive and negative political and economic changes to migrants as well to the sending and receiving countries, it also creates the conditions for migrants, in particular, to struggle with and open themselves to new commitments of faith. This article explores the theological relevance of migration, especially in terms of the clues it provides for making sense of the human condition, by examining how migration offers windows into contemporary forms of oppression and, at the same time, offers paths toward liberation
