The relationships between the phenomenon of Christian fundamentalism and several aspects of cognitive and moral development were discussed. Modern Christian fundamentalism has acquired a new sense of ideological and political rigor within the last fifteen years. The specific cognitive and moral reasoning concepts discussed in terms of Christian fundamentalism were Kohlbergian theories, interpersonal negotiation, perspective taking, and disequilibration. There was confirmation that, although moral reasoning and religious conservatism are related, the relationship is much more Intricate than previously thought. Furthermore, the importance of considering the structural parallelism of these concepts was confirmed.
