Maximum sensitivity constrained active disturbance rejection control based on reduced-order observer for DC–DC boost converter

A reduced-order observer-based active disturbance rejection control (RADRC) is suggested to regulate the output of the boost converter in the presence of unwanted disturbance including input voltage fluctuations and changes in the load side. The proposed control system is protected from unnecessary amplification of high-frequency noise signals as the derivative term is eliminated from the control laws. The extra phase lag introduced by the derivative term of ADRC is avoided, which further enhances the overall system’s stability and performance. The design parameters such as observer and controller bandwidths are selected by specifying the maximum sensitivity value of the control loop such that the desired robustness level is obtained. The proposed control strategy is experimentally validated and its superiority over contemporary techniques is justified under different scenarios. The suggested control strategy has the least settling time of 0.02 seconds and a minimum integral absolute error (IAE) value of 0.025 for the servo performance. For the regulatory performances also, the RADRC technique proves to be better than the other control methods.
