Improving the control of grinding processes using prediction from dynamic models

A method of developing a range of dynamic models of grinding processes is described, in which the structures of the models have been determined by a method which is best described as a regression upon the currently available expertise of the dynamic performance of grinding circuits. The models were developed initially on an analogue computer and subsequently the models have been transferred to a simulation language to provide greater flexibility. Grinding processes can present a large range of process control problems and the models have been designed for use as test beds during the design and development of mill control systems.
