This paper is intended to provide a design guide for estimating the deflecting force available when aiming air jets at objects to be sorted or diverted, a fairly common requirement in some branches of engineering. Many results have been brought together to achieve this and, although results scatter is sometimes high because of flow unsteadiness, accuracy of force prediction is considered to be much better than any obvious alternative method.
