Abstract
A program for computer aided system modelling is described. The program was developed to analyse step responses by identifying certain characteristics typical of systems of a given order. Graphical criteria are applied to responses to generate models in a simple interactive fashion. The results of experiments designed to evaluate the program graphically show the suitability of second-order-plus-time-delay models for processes with sigmoidal step responses. The program demonstrates the feasibility of using personal computers for graphical modelling.
