This article describes the various components of vision rehabilitation services, examines funding mechanisms for reimbursement of the services, reviews legislative activities over the past 20 years, and identifies issues that must be addressed in the future if the field is to obtain adequate funding for high-quality services for all Americans who are visually impaired.
