Abstract

Habitat III is the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development, to take place in Quito, Ecuador, during the week of 17 October 2016. This was decided in the General Assembly Resolution 66/207 and 69/226.
Habitat III offers Member States an opportunity to discuss a New Urban Agenda that will focus on policies and strategies that can result in effectively harnessing the power and forces behind urbanization.
The Habitat III Conference and its Preparatory Committee are open to all member states who are also invited to facilitate participatory processes and wide stakeholder participation, including local authorities and their associations, when developing, revising and implementing national urban policies, where appropriate, as a means for the preparation of Habitat III.
