Abstract

These comments are to update us all on the progress and changes in IJME, relating to both the Practice and the Research areas of the journal. After much e-mail discussion over the last year, and wonderful conversations in Brazil in July, we have some updates for you.
First, let’s congratulate and welcome all our new editorial board members! These individuals have just “signed on” to 6 years of service for IJME, and we are thrilled to have their expertise, experience, and perspective on our panels. For the Research side, we welcome Chee Hoo Lum from Singapore as our new co-editor, and Avra Skoutella from Cyprus, Brian Russell from USA, Wendy Sims from USA, Janice Waldron from Canada, Sondra Howe from USA, Adam Kruse from USA, Katie Zhukov from Australia, Jennifer Whitaker from USA, and Avra Scoutelia from Cyprus to our board. The new Practice editorial board members are Jason Chi Wai Chen from Hong Kong, China, Vivian Gonzalez from USA, Mikko Ketovuori from Finland, Don Lebler from Australia, Lisa Lorenzino from Canada, Natassa Economidou Stavrou from Cyprus, and Marina Wong from Hong Kong, China. A special mention must go to Bryan Burton (Practice) and Terese Volk (Research) who have been appointed for a second consecutive term. These reviewers will serve until December of their sixth year.…. just imagine how many papers they will read, and how much good advice they will give during that time!
Second, we are re-organizing the presentation of Practice and Research papers in the journal. Previously, we had two issues per year for Practice, and two for Research, alternating. However, given the number of papers submitted to each and the topics covered, we have decided to make each issue a combination of Research and Practice papers. We hope this will lead more readers to peruse more of each journal. We hope that that the inclusion of both in each journal will lead to an enriched reading experience, with plenty of room for transfer between topics…. and methodology. We will organize each issue according to our publication queue in order to move papers into hard copy publication as quickly as possible!
Last, we’d like to let everyone know about our approach to translations. IJME will provide translations of the abstracts in English, French, Spanish, and two Chinese versions, in the online access option. Authors also are invited to provide abstracts in German and/or another language if they like, in order to have abstracts available in their “home language” and/or in German. We are servicing the UNESCO languages first, but want to welcome authors to make their work as accessible as possible to their “home crowd”, or to a wider international audience.
And now, please enjoy the first “combo” edition of IJME: Practice and IJME: Research!
