Struggles two concerns privatisation. With the re-election of the Thatcher government this may prove to be one of the most important threats to public services and trade union organisation. The first contribution looks at the `special'case of Birmingham, where the threatofprivatisation alone was able to secure employers a substantial victory. The second draws upon the experi ence of privatisation accumulated so far and points to a strategy required to defeat it.
