At a time when issues about the management and purpose of the Probation and After-Care Service are being debated, members of the Greater Manchester branch of NAPO draw attention to local develop ments which they have found disturbing, and relate them to issues of importance to the Service and NAPO nationally.
In view of the article's critical stance towards the management of their area, the Editorial Advisory Board gave a limited right of reply to the CPO of Greater Manchester, for publication in this issue. That reply follows the main article.
