In the 1970s, Latin American theologians were instrumental in developing the concept of integral mission. This volume explores how contemporary Latin American theologians are building on the legacy of integral mission, and the controversies it raised, to reflect on a wide range of issues such as the economy, culture, the environment, discrimination, and transcultural missions. Drawing on authors from across the continent, this volume offers a valuable insight into the diversity and richness of current Latin American missiological reflection.

Many would agree that the issue of identity is pertinent for mission. This book explores the case study of Czechs in former Yugoslavia countries with focus on national identity of the missionaries. It aims to help mission practitioners to understand what to beware of and what to benefit from. It provides a fresh insight into mission dynamics in Central and Eastern Europe, yet with its aim on identity negotiation of missionaries could relate to other contexts as well.

A large part of preventative member care practice involved making difficult decisions during the application, screening and placement process of sending cross-cultural workers. When it comes to sending families with additional needs, it is vital we understand the key challenges they face in order help them on their mission journey. This book gives voice to families who have navigated these challenges and takes a deep dive into the area of autism spectrum and other neuroprocessing disorders to help us gain a greater understanding of the member carer’s role in sending and supporting these uniquely gifted workers.

As teachers, we long for every Christian to become more like Christ in every way. We trust that teaching within the Church will serve that purpose. However, the teaching we offer is often reduced to a form of teaching that is simply informative, individualistic, irrelevant for a believer’s daily life, and only imparted through specific activities and events. It seems that, in general, it is difficult to ensure that our teaching ministries produce profound transformation in people’s lives.
The purpose of this book is to present various important pedagogical approaches that the Church usually does not take into account and that will help us collaborate with the Holy Spirit in a believer’s process of transformation. Each chapter includes practical exercises, which will help us analyse and renew our teaching ministry. Another aim of this book is to encourage teachers, so that we ourselves develop a transformative relationship with God, which will undoubtedly have an impact on the people we serve.

When Diakonia is expected to reach out to all God’s creation, we are called to be prepared to working together in God’s mission towards renewal, reconciliation and restoration of creation. It is our hope that this volume will be of great help to churches around the world. I am sure the Asian churches and the Asian ecumenical organizations who are engaged in a ministry of creation care will also benefit richly from this valuable and insightful resource on ‘Creation Care and Eco-Diakonia’.
This unique International Handbook on Creation Care and Eco-Diakonia is bringing together major ‘voices of the global South’. The ‘cry of the earth’ and the ‘cry of the poor’ inseparably belong together. Social and ecological justice and intimately bound together and should never be separated. The relevance of these ‘voices of the global South’ for the Great Transformation in which humanity is participating currently, cannot be overestimated.
