Very little research has followed up children who have attended
language units. This study used a qualitative method both to explore the
process of integration for four children who transferred from a language
unit to their local schools and to consider the way these children were
functioning a year later. Issues arising from the research included
planning of integration, sharing of information and skills, parental
involvement, the role of the language unit, and some possible directions
for future research.
