Abstract
The influence of anisotropy and the loading circumstances on the deformation and damage behaviour of Al6092/SiC particle composites is examined in this study at 2× 10−4 s−1 strain rate and in three orientations with respect to the rolling directions (0, 45, 90) °. The influence of heat treatment (T6 and O-condition) on the microstructure, deformation, and damage behaviour of metal matrix composites under various loading conditions is investigated to obtain a fundamental understanding of the heat treatment effect on the fracture mechanism, the microstructural changes, and the interface between the Al-matrix and SiC particles, and to establish a correlation between heat treatment and anisotropy effect, it is necessary to examine the influence of heat treatment (T6 and O-condition) on the microstructure, deformation, and damage behaviour of metal matrix composites.
