The sentence: “Combined Authorities (CAs) in the United Kingdom represent the first major reform of local government since the County Councils were abolished under the then Margaret Thatcher MP” should read: “Combined authorities (CAs) are among the more important reforms of local government in England outside London since the English Metropolitan Counties were abolished in 1986 by the government of the then PM Margaret Thatcher”.
In addition, the reference (also on p.91) to the Greater London Authority (GLA) as a Combined Authority, is incorrect. The GLA is not a Combined Authority.
