Issue 39:3— Innovation and Advances in the Measurement of Social Validity in EI/ECSE Research
The term social validity was used by Montrose Wolf in 1978 to describe the social importance of the goals selected for an intervention/program, the acceptability and feasibility of procedures employed in an intervention/program, and the effectiveness of the outcomes produced by the intervention/program. Evaluation of social validity has been used by different researchers, and in fact, it is one of the quality indicators for single-case research. Manuscripts are sought that address procedures and tools for evaluating social validity and studies that use multiple and innovative ways to evaluate social validity of an intervention/program. We welcome the submission of manuscripts that include descriptions of empirical research; reviews and syntheses of the literature; and discussions of pertinent policies, programs, and conceptual perspectives centered on the measurement and evaluation of social validity. Issue 39:4— Research to Practice in Early Intervention (Open Topic)
This is an open, nontopical issue for manuscripts on any aspect of early intervention for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their families. Authors are encouraged to submit reports of original research, literature reviews, conceptual statements, position papers, descriptions and evaluations of effective programs, and reactions to previous manuscripts published in TECSE. Articles may address topics that have been featured in previous issues of the journal or topics that have not been addressed. Acceptable manuscripts will be published on a space-available and first-come first-served basis; therefore, authors are encouraged to submit their work as early as possible. Due Date: April 30, 2019
Issue 40:1— Research to Practice for Dual Language Learners in EI/ECSE
Young children who speak languages other than English at home are one of the fastest growing populations in the U.S. and the field of early childhood special education needs to respond by developing evidence-based practices to meet their unique cultural and linguistic needs. The Division for Early Childhood released recommended practices (2014) that included specific recommendations for dual language learners (DLLs); however, research focused specifically on identification and intervention with this population is needed to guide practice. This topical issue will be focused on research that tackles pressing issues facing the field in serving young DLLs. Topics that manuscripts can address can include promising interventions for DLLs with or at-risk for disabilities, special education evaluation procedures that improve the accuracy of identification of disability, culturally responsive services, and innovative outreach efforts to culturally and linguistically diverse families. We welcome the submission of manuscripts that include descriptions of empirical research, evidence-based practice recommendations, reviews and syntheses of the literature. Please email Erin E.
