Abstract

Following the move to SAGE Publications, we are extremely pleased to announce the launch of the social media activities of the Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism. As another step towards expanding our digital presence, we are showcasing stimulating research in the journal and the field, and highlighting exciting studies with mechanistic insights into pathophysiological processes using social media.
Through Twitter and Facebook, JCBFM will share with the reader, exciting and engaging content exploring cerebral circulation, brain metabolism and the blood–brain barrier, sourcing content from within and outside the journal. In a world where one is constantly bombarded with unnecessary information, we aim to give the reader control of choice of content.
Our posts will attempt to briefly communicate bite-sized science to allow our specialised readership to keep up with the latest research. By no means is this a reproduction of the table of contents! The posts will feature unique findings, novel imaging modalities, research legislation and ethics, highlights from international and much more!
We hope to interact with and engage both the niche scientific and broad public audiences in order to foster productive conversations to discuss the science of cerebral blood flow and metabolism. As important stake holders, it is also our priority to lucidly communicate our research to the general public by directing them to pertinent popular science blogs, images and news stories and consequently, bridge the gap between science and society and positively shape public perception of research.
So, for all that and more, support us and be a part of the JCBFM team! Follow us @_JCBFM and tweet to us your thoughts and suggestions! Remember, it is not about the sharing or retweets but all about knowing a little more in 140 characters!
