The Weekly Written Critique: a Method To Promote Independent Thought in the Issues Course

B-School students tend toward complacency when the efficacy and social responsibility of marketing institutions are challenged. To stimulate nonthreatening dialogue and address other problems inherent in the issues course, a mechanism to extend discussion beyond the classroom was devised and it was called, "The Weekly Written Critique." This article reports on the benefits and limitations of the weekly written critique in relation to the instructor's pedagogical goals for the issues course.
