Good-bye
After 7 years as Editor-in-Chief for Acta Radiologica and Acta Radiologica Open Professor Henrik S Thomsen (University of Copenhagen) retires (Figure 1).
It has been a great honor to edit the Nordic journal within the field of radiology on behalf of my Nordic colleagues. Acta Radiologica is one of the oldest radiological journals in the world. It was created in 1917 in Sweden and is supported by a Swedish foundation and a society including the five Nordic radiological societies. Every member of a Nordic society foundation has free access to our journal.
It has been a busy time. The journal has recently received more manuscripts for review than in the past, meaning that more time for review is needed. It also gets more difficult to find excellent reviewers. However, Acta Radiologica has been able to find excellent reviewers over the years and has kept the review time down and quality up. In addition, we obtained permission from our publisher to increase the number of printed pages. For some years, we were able to print only 144 pages per month. This strict rule caused an increase in time from papers that were published online to those in print. We had manuscripts where the time from accept to print was more than 1 year. This was not acceptable, and in 2023 we managed to reduce this time to 1–2 months.
It has been a great honor to have worked for the precious Nordic journal. Next year (2025) Acta Radiologica will be 100% electronic. Acta is ready to change and this decision is supported by the five Nordic societies for radiology. Our other journal (Acta Radiologica Open) has been electronic for many years. It has been a great privilege to follow the progress of Acta Radiologica for the past 7 years.
